The Herons of The Pond

The pond has become one of my favorite places to visit.

Since spring, I have had the incredible opportunity to photograph and film so many different types of herons. Some I had never even seen before. Green Herons. Night Herons. Each one has been a new discovery for me.

What I love most is the challenge of filming them.

Yellow-Crowned Night Heron

More often than not, they are tucked away in the brush, barely visible. Other times, one will fly past me so quickly that I barely have time to get my camera ready.

But that is exactly what I love about it.

There's always something new to see, and somehow, the pond seems to deliver every day.

I think that's one of the reasons I keep going back. I never really know what I am going to find. I just show up, camera in hand, and wait to see what unfolds.
